Top Ten Google Tips
DON’T Make These Ten Mistakes on Google... Unless Of Course You Don’t Want Your Site(s) Listed!
n this special report, you will learn the top mistakes that Web designers
and SEO ‘tricksters’ use to try to improve a Web page’s position in the Google search results. They might work sometimes, but if you get caught,
get ready for a real disappointment...your position will plummet and you are likely to get blacklisted and removed from the search results altogether.
There are many factors that influence your search engine position however
, despite all the hype on the topic, truthfully, there are only a handful of ethical tips and tricks that you need to know to earn a favorable position in virtually ANY search
engine or Internet directory. This free report will help you determine if your site is at risk of
being demoted or removed from the index!
But if you don't like being found in the Google search engine, here are some sure fired ways to
lower your ranking and get the worst search engine results possible(banned!). Getting page views at any cost is just not a good tactic. It never works in the long run, even if it may work for a
short while. Beware of any SEO company that recommends you employ any of these techniques
1. Distribution Of Viruses, or Any Other Malware, Adware, etc. Your site may be distributing a virus or other mal-ware, and you might not even know it! Google
is going to completely remove you from their index for good if this is discovered on your site. This should be a no-brainer. If you are reselling or distributing shareware from your Web site,
you should install it first on your own PC, and then run every virus, ad-ware, mal-ware, and system scanner you can to confirm it is ‘user and PC safe.’
2. Duplicate Page Content Some Web site designers try to collect page views by duplicating the same content on multiple
pages. You should not copy and paste large amounts of text from your own pages, and certainly don't violate copyright by copying content from elsewhere. Google in the past has actually
banned sites (or severely penalize their ranking in search results) that duplicate too much content.
3. Hidden or Same Color Text This is a really old Web designer trick. The way this trick works is you place your favorite
keywords on a page and make both the font color and the page background color the same. This is known as keyword stuffing or sometimes fontmatching. Google as well as Yahoo, MSN
and others are much better at catching this one than you would think and they will likely remove any offending Web sites from their search engine index when caught.
Also, be aware that really small text is also a no-no. As a variation to keyword stuffing, some
people will place very small text at the bottom of a page.
4. Automated Search Engine Optimization Tools Google would rather that programatic robots didn’t query their search engine resources for
checking your page rankings. Many common SEO tools use programed automated to query the Google search engine for your page positions. Some of these tools also use programatic robots
for page submission. Both are against Google's terms of service, and both of them can get your site banned. They tie up computing resources for everyone. If you are using one of these tools to
track your page positions, don’t use it very often (no more than once a month or a quarter) to avoid getting caught in this trap. And if you are using ANY automation, program, or service to
submit your pages automatically, STOP RIGHT NOW. Most ‘ADDURL’ pages now include a technique that blocks the automated submitters anyway. Most search engine ADDURL pages,
require a human to read some scrambled letters and type them in a box to submit the form. Computer programming can not yet read the scrambled letters.
5. Robot Writen Web Pages JIn the same manner that it is a real bad idea to duplicate page content, it is an even worse idea
to have a program running on a PC to write your page content for you. There are a number of programs out there that claim they duplicate the same content as ‘search engine friendly’
however, if Google catches you in this game, and they are good at catching this, you can wave your site traffic goodbye.
In brief, just write your own content. Don't buy "instant AdSense" Web sites. If this business
-in-a-box scam was really making lots of passive income for the owner, they wouldn't be selling them...would they?
6. Page Cloaking Designing your Web pages so that search engines see one version of a page and visitors see another is called page cloaking. This can be done with sneaky redirects or with simple
programming, and it's strictly forbidden. Search engines really dislike this trick. The reason that some Web designers will want to create cloak pages is that often, pages that are appealing to
the human eye, do not index well (poor design), so they create very plain but well optimized pages to present to the search engine spider, and the ‘fancy’ pages are served up to humans
only. Cloaking your Web site is a sure-fire way to get banned from Google.
7. Keywords That Do Not Relate To Your Site Content The age of the META tag has come and gone for many search engines. Though they are still
somewhat relevant and you should include them in any page design you want indexed, META tag information isn’t that important to Google in these more contemporary times.
When you include your (well researched) keywords, do include keywords that are directly related
to your Web site, and do not repeat the same keyword multiple times. That approach is known as spamming keywords and it is another great way to have your ranking lowered in Google.
Placing duplicate keywords does not raise your relevancy for those terms, it will actually serve to have exactly the opposite effect on your rankings.
8. Reverse Links to ‘Dishonorable’ Sites Linking (exchanging backward links with other Web sites) ordinarily makes you a good neighbor
and and often helps to boost your position in the Google search engine. BEFORE you exchange links with a Web site’s Web Master, be sure to check out the Web site first, and make sure it is
not a in a ‘bad neighborhood’. You can tell if it is a bad neighborhood by checking their Google page rank and scan the Web site for any of the violations you see mentioned here.
9. Title Stacking Don't add any additional HTML <title> tags in an attempt to stuff in just a few more keywords.
This is a another variation of keyword stuffing that is known as title stacking, and it sure won't win you any favorable positions in the Google search results...or any other for that matter. One
title per page is all that is needed.
10. Doorway And Gateway Pages Doorway/Gateway pages are pages that are optimized for one key term but are really designed
to be gateways to lead you to different content. For instance the "Shelby," "Dussenberg," and
"Auburn" gateways might all be designed to get you to go to "Barrett Jackson Car Auction" site.
Doorway pages often are ‘lite’ on page content and often will cloak or redirect users to the
intended Web site. Also make note that if you are already or considering affiliate marketing take a good look at their site first and before you link to it because some of these may look like
doorway pages to Google.
Bonus Section
11. Using Flash animations as The ‘Home Page’ Google and Yahoo have being working to improve on ability to ‘see’ and ‘comprehend’ Flash
contents, but they are still quite far from having a workable solution. A search engine probably will not index as much as the actual contents really has as a result. Here is another factor to
consider, costs! Flash sites are often somewhat or very expensive to build or to optimize. It is a better approach to build a more SEO friendly site and implement your Flash objects in the
pages, perhaps as pop-overs or pop-ups instead of creating a full flash site.
12. Search Engine 'spiders' Have Poor Vision, And They Like Vanilla! Search engine spiders dislike dynamic URLs, JavaScript links, flash objects, cloaking, iframes,
redirection and virtually anything that might cause difficulty in collecting information to properly index your page. These common oversights, will often produce a complicated scan scenario in
which the spiders find it difficult at best to index the web page. You should strive to make your content page links short and friendly, use only classic linking code without framing on any web
sites if at all possible.
